Gary Taylor, the longtime Chairman of the Board of Directors for Citizens State Bank and First Lena Corporation, retired from the board in August. In honor of his dedicated service, the bank’s Lena location hosted a Retirement Open House on August 2. The public was invited to enjoy some cake and punch with the bank’s employees and officers while celebrating Gary’s accomplishments and wishing him well as he enters a new phase in his life.
“Gary has served as Chairman of the Board for Citizens State Bank for 30 years, leading the bank through a successful era of great growth and expansion,” said Bank President Fritz Kuhlmeier. “We will miss Gary’s contributions and experience greatly, but thank him for his timeless devotion to our bank. We wish him well in retirement.”
In the wake of Gary’s departure, Dean Holmes has taken the helm as the new Chairman of the Board. Holmes – a local grain and livestock farmer – has been an active Citizens State Bank and First Lena Corporation board member since 1992.
At the same time that the bank bid farewell to Gary, the Board of Directors welcomed its newest member, Jonathan Freidag. Jon is a principal member of Freidag Associates, Inc., a certified public accounting firm based in Freeport, where he has worked since December 1983. Jon earned his Associate of Science from Highland Community College in May, 1977; his Bachelor of Business from Western Illinois University in May, 1979; and his Master of Business Administration from Western Illinois University in May, 1981.
“Jon brings an immense amount of experience and insight, and will prove to be a valuable new asset to our Board of Directors, the bank, our shareholders and our many customers,” said Citizens State Bank President Fritz Kuhlmeier.
